Driver Ed in a Box® Premier
Premier Program – Driver Ed in a Box® with the classroom done at home and the in-vehicle done with a Texas Education Agency licensed Professional Driver Training Specialist. The parents can determine how much they want to participate in the in-vehicle phase – some, little or none. The less the parent participates, the greater the overall fees as the student must have a minimum of 34 in-vehicle hours.
Registration requirements: No DPS registration required. Registration is with Collision-Free Driver Ed, Driver Ed in a Box®’s driving school licensed by the Texas Education Agency (License#C2283).
Course process:
- The student does the classroom at home (parents are encouraged to assist), the work is inspected by a licensed professional instructor.
- After Section I is completed, the student is tested, then issued a form DE- 964 form which the student uses to obtain the permit.
- After obtaining the permit, the student schedules in-vehicle training with our Professional Driver Training Specialist. The student continues to do the classroom phase at home in conjunction with the behind-the-wheel driving experiences.
The state requires 34 hours of behind-the-wheel training. In this program a minimum of 7 hours must be behind-the-wheel with a TEA licensed instructor, 7 hours of observation of in-vehicle instruction, and an additional 20 hours of supervised practice (10 of which must be at night). These additional 20 hours may be done with a parent if the parent opts to do so.
